VIETNAMESE BALM

Vietnamese balm (also known as “kinh giới” in Vietnamese) is a common native herb in Asia, mostly found in India, East Asia (including Vietnam). The plant is grown annually for its leaves. A staple ingredient for both culinary use and medicinal use, Vietnamese is an erect herb that grows to about 60 cm in height. The dark green leaves are long, stalked, and serrated with rounded edges. In shape, they are ovate to lanceolate while the underside gland is dotted. It is said to look quite similar to other plants of the same Mint family, therefore the plants also exude a strong, minty scent

The Vietnamese balm has a bright, warm lemon flavor with a hint of mint. It also has a note of spiciness at the end. The addition of crispiness in texture really enhances the plant’s flavor
