Hailed as “the world's most consumed fruit”. The banana fruit is believed to have originated up to 10000 years ago, first discovered and grown in Southeast Asia before expanding to other regions. Now the banana fruit is one of the world’s most exported agricultural products, with Cavendish banana being the main type of commercial banana for consumption, due to its long shelf life and ease of transport.
The fruit has the initial green peel but turns yellow when ripe, soft light yellow flesh inside, along with a characteristic aroma. The more banana ripes, the sweeter its flavor is.

Aside from its deliciousness, the banana has got many great health benefits. It contains several essential nutrients and is very beneficial for digestion, heart, and weight loss. One medium banana (118 grams) contains 9% of the RDI. Eating more bananas means a rich diet in potassium and can reduce the risk of heart disease by 27%. An ideal source of fiber, a medium-sized banana provides about 3g of fiber which is equivalent to 10% of the daily requirement, and it helps the colon function properly, maintaining cholesterol, blood pressure balance and reducing inflammation.
